A baseline is the point
Without a starting number, there is no way to tell later whether anything moved. A panel taken before treatment turns "I think I feel better" into something that can be checked.
It also catches the things nobody was looking for. Thyroid function, iron, kidney and liver markers, glucose and lipids are ordinary tests, and they occasionally explain the symptom that brought someone in, which changes the plan entirely.
It is also a safety check
Several therapies are inappropriate against particular results. Kidney function affects what can be infused. Liver markers affect what can be prescribed. A provider needs to see those before, not after.
What happens to the results
They are discussed with you, in plain terms, alongside what they mean for the options in front of you. A result that rules something out is a useful outcome, not a wasted visit.

General information, not medical advice, and not a substitute for being assessed by a clinician. Nothing here has been evaluated by the FDA. What is right for you is a decision for a provider who has your history in front of them.
